- Os direitos de retenção, de suspensão e de stoppage in transitu no contrato de venda internacional de mercadorias com transporte por via marítimaPublication . Pires, César; Almedina, EditoraAo longo dos últimos anos assistimos a um amplo debate sobre a possibilidade de invocação de uma situação de hardship ou de impossibilidade de cumprimento de obrigações no âmbito de contratos comerciais internacionais. No entanto, um dos princípios fundamentais em que se baseia a CISG é o princípio da manutenção do contrato de venda internacional de mercadorias. Uma das formas de promover a efetiva manutenção deste vínculo contratual é permitir a suspensão do cumprimento das obrigações e retomar esse cumprimento logo que se verifiquem certos pressupostos. Abordam-se neste trabalho alguns meios de reação perante um provável incumprimento de obrigações do vendedor ou do comprador.
- The Impact of the Ongoing European Legislative Process regarding Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence on Contracts between Companies and their PartnersPublication . Pires, CésarThe proposed Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence stands as a significant milestone in the safeguarding of human rights and the environment. The ongoing legislative process within European Union has given rise to new considerations regarding the methods of risk mitigation that companies, under the scope of the future Directive, will adopt. Among the risk management methods currently under discussion is the use of contracts between companies and their partners, with a notable emphasis on bilateral contracts. In this article, we delve into the introduction of corporate liability for damages and its interaction with contracts as a means of risk management. However, we propose an approach that extends beyond bilateral contracts, advocating for the consideration of multilateral contracts. This particularly pertains to the creation and implementation of preventive action plans to address potential adverse impacts, as well as corrective action plans to manage actual adverse impacts on human rights and the environment.
- A new proposal for estimating the temperatures on the steel deck components of composite slabs under firePublication . Balsa, Carlos; Piloto, Paulo A.G.; Lídia R. S. LimaThis study aims to improve the estimation of the temperatures on the steel deck of a composite slab under fire. An accurate estimation of these temperatures is crucial to determine the loadbearing capacity (R) of the slab. A new proposal, alternative to the simplified method provided by Eurocode 4, that enables temperature estimation on the steel deck components (web, lower and upper flange), is derived from the numerical results, obtained with a three-dimensional computational model. This new proposal considers the effect of the concrete thickness ℎ1 and includes the fire rating and, contrary to the Eurocode 4 proposal, fits very well the numerical results.
- Circuitos arqueológicos: da criação de conteúdos interativos ao digital StorytellingPublication . Vieira, Alexandra; Pires, Raquel; Portelinha, ManuelEste trabalho parte de dois pressupostos: em primeiro lugar, a ideia de que os vestígios arqueológicos, enquanto bens culturais e possíveis recursos turísticos, resultam de uma herança ou legado das comunidades; em segundo lugar, trata-se de compreender e re-conhecer a sua importância, não só como parte da nossa herança identitária, mas como algo que interessa valorizar, compreender e usufruir no presente. Os vestígios arqueoló-gicos têm o dom de despertar a curiosidade e o interesse das pessoas. No entanto, o seu entendimento pressupõe algum conhecimento técnico e depara-se com um conjunto de barreiras que só podem ser colmatadas com o recurso às técnicas de interpretação do património cultural, adequando-as a esta realidade em particular. Comunicar o, e sobre o património cultural, em sentido amplo: sob o ponto de vista cien-tífico, educacional, cultural, social e turístico, é um ato de storytelling e tarefa singular da interpretação patrimonial. Agregando saber e pragmática provenientes do processo criativo em design, enquanto ação cocriativa, colaborativa e geradora de impacto narrativo, a arte de narrar histórias permanece como um desafio de conexão social para as comunidades locais e visitantes, as quais são estimuladas, por um lado a redescobrir seu território, por outro a serem envolvidas numa experiência interativa de aprendizagem.
- New harmonised proposal for the fire resistance of composite slabs with steel deckPublication . Piloto, Paulo A.G.; Balsa, Carlos; Lídia R. S. LimaThe ability to sustain the load (R) of a composite slab during a fire, requires the calculation of the temperature for each load bearing component. The load bearing components that are affected by the temperature are: the bottom flange of the steel deck, the web, the upper flange and the reinforcing bars. The concrete part is not affected by the temperature. The current version of the EN 1994-1-2 presents one simple calculation method that is based on empirical coefficients to determine the average temperature of each component. The effect of the load needs to be compared with the plastic moment of the composite slab for specific fire ratings 60, 90 and 120 min) for the case of the normal weight concrete. Based on a numerical parametric analysis, a new harmonised proposal is presented, including all the main parameters affecting the fire resistance. This new proposal is even safer than the current version.
- Comportamento Ao Fogo de Lajes Mistas Com Chapa de Aço ColaborantePublication . Piloto, Paulo A.G.; Balsa, Carlos; Kimura, Erika; Lucca, GabrielNa construção de edifícios de grande altura com elementos mistos, o tempo de construção é crucial. A construção mista, como aplicação de lajes mistas com chapa de aço colaborante é uma alternativa viável, amplamente adotada nos EUA e Europa, acelerando o processo construtivo. Testes à escala real, como os do BRE, demonstram a resiliência ao incêndio das estruturas mistas, atendendo aos requisitos de segurança do Eurocódigo através de testes laboratoriais dispendiosos. O Método dos Elementos Finitos (MEF) surge como uma alternativa, depois da validação dos modelos. Este estudo comparou o resultado das simulações térmicas com ensaios experimentais, com o objetivo de avaliar a capacidade portante em condições de incêndio. A laje foi modelada no software ANSYS, reflete as características da laje experimental, composta por chapa de aço galvanizado, lã de rocha, concreto e barras de reforço em aço. Este trabalho permitiu desenvolver um modelo numérico, validando a sua eficácia na simulação do comportamento de isolamento térmico do elemento misto.
- O efeito dos eventos musicais na atratividade dos destinos: O Kriol Jazz FestivalPublication . Fernandes, Joana M.S.R.; Furtado, Ronny; Fernandes, CatarinaO turismo é uma atividade económica muito importante e, por isso, é necessário que os destinos procurem sempre inovar o seu produto turístico e proporcionar uma experiência mais completa ao consumidor. Uma das formas encontradas para complementar a oferta é a prática do turismo de eventos, onde os festivais de música têm grande destaque. O Kriol Jazz Festival é um festival de música realizado na Cidade da Praia, em Cabo Verde, desde 2009. É organizado no mês de abril e visa promover a “Criolidade”, com a participação de artistas crioulos de vários países. Este estudo pretendeu determinar a influência do festival na atração de turistas à Cidade da Praia. Para isso, realizou-se uma investigação qualitativa, assente num estudo de caso. A informação recolhida foi suportada numa entrevista ao fundador e organizador do festival, obtendo assim a perceção do festival na ótica da entidade organizadora. Complementarmente, foi também realizado um questionário direcionado às entidades ligadas ao setor turístico da Cidade da Praia. Percebe-se que o Kriol Jazz Festival tem um efeito positivo no setor turístico da cidade, com o aumento do número de turistas e respetivo aumento de gastos e com a melhoria nas infraestruturas da cidade, devendo continuar a ser apoiado pelas entidades responsáveis pelo turismo.
- Urban Tourism Marketing Innovation: Mapping the Backpacker's JourneyPublication . Coelho, Ana Sofia; Martins, Márcio RibeiroThe tourism industry plays an important role in the Portuguese economy, particularly contributing to the increase of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and job creation. Additionally, the rapid development of new technologies and the use of social networks means that tourists are increasingly well-informed and their behavior is changing and adapting to new realities. Among various types of tourism, the growing demand for urban tourism stands out, and although it is a little-studied phenomenon, backpacker tourism is revealed as a market segment that needs to be better understood. Backpacker tourism can be defined as “the activities developed by a complex and heterogeneous group of travelers, made up predominantly of young people who travel for longer periods than usual and with flexible and informal travel itineraries” (Martins & Costa, 2021, p.1). This article aims to demonstrate a backpacker journey mapping model. Backpacker journey mapping is also known as mapping the tourist's points of contact with the service provider (Lemon & Verhoef, 2016). This proposed model will be a strategic tool that can be able to be used by managers, or tourism professionals, to offer and promote the services´ innovation that are more suitable and desired by Backpackers.
- Co-creation and active learning within higher education studentsPublication . The traditional teaching system was based on expositive lessons where the teacher was the center of attention, but this is no longer effective. Nowadays, students have become the center of attention, with a teaching system based on flexible structures and an active learning environment. Active learning activities such as co-creation are part of contemporary education and are key to better preparing students for the job market. This research examines co-creation and active learning experiences within higher education students. Particularly, the research analyzes the implementation of active learning activities in the development of an advertising campaign. It used groups of students from the Communication and Journalism Bachelor at a Portuguese University and supporting tools, such as Mentimeter, Jamboard, Google Slides, and Storyboard. Gamification, generation of Artificial Intelligence-based advertisements, outdoors, mupis, posters, online publications (websites and social media) and PowerPoint presentations are some examples of the outcomes of the implemented activities. Active learning activities proved to motivate and engage students individually and as part of the team. Additionally, the research evidenced the achievement of results such as critical thinking, research, written and oral presentation and problem-solving skills development.
- (Even the) dandelions (lie): relato e documentação de um processo de ediçãoPublication . Pinto, Ana Lúcia JesusDandelions é um fotolivro com uma narrativa fotográfica poética, eixo estruturante assente no ato evocativo. O conceito surgiu quando a autora, em pleno vale do Côa, soprou um dente-de-leão e ouviu em simultâneo duas frases: She will love you, He will marry you, cada uma proferida por amigos distintos. A ação humana na natureza revelou-se como mediadora de pensamento mágico e originou o primeiro título do livro: Even the dandelions lie, potenciando o seu conceito fundador. O processo de criação implicou mergulhar meses a fio no arquivo fotográfico pessoal e observar, selecionar e editar fotografias captadas em diferentes contextos ao longo de dez anos. Captaram-se ainda algumas fotografias macro, fundamentais para o conceito do livro.
