Abstract(s)
There is a wide range of paid and free Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tools that, although they may make it difficult for the professional to decide at the time of the choice, are able to respond to market demands. This paper intends to explore the importance of the translator in the current technological knowledge society, as well as the relevance that the tools they use have in the productivity and ease of their work, presenting a comparison to clarify the differences that exist between programs in terms of their functionalities, goals, functioning and results. Following these ideas, I will discuss what the CAT tools are and what their importance in the professional aspect of translation is, followed by a brief comparison based on the analysis grid made by the author, the tools DÉJÀ VU and SDL TRADOS. In this way, a more detailed and clearer view of the different aspects of the tools is achieved, making it easier for translators to decide when to purchase a CAT tool.
