Abstract(s)
(Statistical Package for Social Sciences) e envolveu, numa primeira fase, a utilização do teste de Spearman.
Somente a
These research objectives are: (i) to study the correlation between anthropometric measures and age according to gender; and, (ii) to analyze the concordance of different anthropometric measures. This is a cross-sectional study that was conducted in 290 adolescents enrolled at the Emídio Garcia school in Bragança. In this study various anthropometric parameters were assessed. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 22.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) and involved the use of Spearman’s test. Then, to evaluate the concordance between the various anthropometric measures, a statistical test to determine Kappa’s significance was performed. Finally, the comparison of various anthropometric measures according to gender, using the Friedman test, was carried out. The BMI percentile and waist circumference were negatively and significantly correlated with age. In contrast, there is a positive correlation in the percentage of fat mass with BMI percentile and waist circumference. The same correlation was found between BMI percentile and waist circumference. Only the percentage of fat mass and BMI percentile showed a moderate agreement (Kappa = 0.440), in the other indicators there was a discrepancy of values. Several indicators should be used to assess nutritional status and not just a single anthropometric indicator.
