Abstract(s)
mosto.
The main environmental factor that limits the production of grapes in quantity and quality in most of the wine producing regions of the world is the lack of water at certain times of the growth cycle of the vine. Thus, strategies are being sought to mitigate the effect of the drought. Deficit irrigation (DI) is one of the strategies that provide the best results. This type of irrigation is intended to provide water at specific times and in low doses. The experiment was carried out during the year 2017 in a commercial vineyard located in the āRegiĆ£o Demarcada do Douroā (Portugal), in two cultivars, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca. The deficit irrigation was used, 25% of the reference evapotranspiration, compared to the rainfed. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of deficit irrigation on the physiological and agronomic parameters of the grapevines as well as the yield and quality of the grapes and must. The results indicated great water stress in the rainfed plants, reducing the stomatal conductance and the net photosynthesis. The irrigation increased the yield without significantly reducing the qualitative parameters of the must.
