Abstract(s)
Refletir sobre a educação e a cidadania constitui um desafio na atualidade nacional e internacional. Destaca-se o papel dos educadores, professores e educadores sociais na construção da cidadania no campo das organizações não governamentais (ONG), em particular da “Hope For Children” CRC Policy Center, no Chipre. O artigo decorre de uma iniciativa promovida pelo Departamento de Ciências da Educação e de Supervisão da Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (Portugal), que tinha como objetivo suscitar a partilha de iniciativas interculturais, nacionais e internacionais, no âmbito da educação. A partir da conferência proferida foram estabelecidos outros contactos de natureza académica e científica. Pretende-se salientar a importância da educação na construção da cidadania, enquadrada no contexto europeu e nacional. Neste domínio, o papel dos profissionais e a sua respetiva formação na área da educação é determinante para o trabalhado desenvolvido nas ONG, sobretudo para a construção da cidadania. O artigo incide sobre o caso da "Hope For Children" CRC Policy Center, no Chipre, apresentando alguns projetos relevantes na área da participação e cidadania, onde se destacam as dinâmicas implementadas no terreno por profissionais, nomeadamente educadores sociais, e outras organizações. A divulgação destes projetos, enquanto exemplos de boas práticas, devidamente fundamentadas, permite partilhar iniciativas de carácter educativo e social, relevantes para a formação, intervenção e investigação de profissionais responsáveis na área da educação
Education to citizenship is a pressing challenge nowadays, at national and international level. The role of educators, teachers and social educators as promoters of citizenship in the field of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), in particular the “Hope For Children” CRC Policy Center, in Cyprus, stands out. The article stems from an initiative promoted by the Department of Educational Sciences and Supervision of the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (Portugal), which aimed to encourage the sharing of intercultural initiatives, national and international, in the field of education. Several academic and scientific contacts have been established in the framework of this conference, highlighting the importance of education in the construction of citizenship. The role of professionals and their respective training in the area of education is determinant for the work developed by NGOs, particularly where it concerns the construction of citizenship. This article focuses on the case of the "Hope For Children" CRC Policy Center, in Cyprus, presenting examples of relevant projects in the area of participation and citizenship, highlighting the dynamics implemented in loco by professionals, namely social educators, and other organizations. The dissemination of these projects, as examples of good practice, duly substantiated, allows the sharing of educational and social initiatives, relevant to the training, intervention and research of professionals in the area of education
