Abstract(s)

Health literacy is determined by various factors, such as the person's characteristics and social and cultural factors. It is also related to a person's ability to manage their illness by adhering to and maintaining rehabilitation plans. In Portugal, health literacy is low. There are sections of the population with obvious difficulties in accessing and understanding complex information, plus people whose mother tongue is not Portuguese, as is the case with the migrant population. It is therefore imperative that all information is accessible to them. Rehabilitation nurses are often faced with this reality. In this project for the master's degree in Rehabilitation Nursing, a pamphlet with respiratory rehabilitation exercises was translated into easy language. A round validation methodology was then used with a panel of consultants, selected for convenience, which included people with intellectual/cognitive disabilities, people whose first language is not Portuguese and people with low levels of education. In the first round, the translation carried out by the team was presented and in the following rounds the changes suggested by the consultants were incorporated, using on-site testing which included carrying out the exercises in the pamphlet. In this poster, we will detail the translation procedure, the results of the validation rounds, the socio-demographic data and the conclusions.
