Abstract(s)
This internship report, integrated into the curriculum of the Master's Degree in Social Education – Education and Intervention throughout Life, presents in a reflective and contextualized manner the experience developed within the scope of professional practice as a Social Educator, in the development of a socio-educational intervention project and as a technical process manager, in the monitoring of families referred to the Family Support and Parental Counseling Center of Bragança. The various functions and tasks of the Social Education Technician in this specific context of intervention are described, as well as the legal framework of their work. As the underlying theme of the socio-educational intervention project, it was decided to address the issue of financial literacy, taking into account the needs assessment carried out together with the families and the technical team of CAFAP. In this way, a methodological path was initiated with a prior assessment of the families' knowledge and practices regarding financial management, followed by the definition of intervention objectives and methodologies that culminated in the preparation and implementation of a schedule of sessions followed by a subsequent assessment of the skills acquired through the project and a SWOT assessment of its strengths and weaknesses. Considering the importance that financial literacy assumes in the management of family and individual resources, in general, and of the families supported by CAFAP, in particular, within the scope of family preservation, which constitutes the ultimate objective of the intervention of the technicians assigned to this social response, it was demonstrated, with the socio-educational intervention project covered by this internship report, the need to replicate it with more beneficiaries covered, as well as the role that the Social Educator can play in its implementation.
