Abstract(s)
The study on The Way to Success: Social Educator in the mediation of socio-educational programs to combat school failure / dropout aims to analyze to what extent the Integrated Education and Training Program (PIEF) has contributed to minimize school failure / dropout. To this end, we formulate the research problem - Can the implementation of PIEF be a motor in combating failure / dropout and create conditions that lead to the personal development of students with learning disabilities? In order to respond to it, we have outlined the following aims: to understand the difficulties inherent to the implementation of the PIEF; verify the constraints felt by both students and teachers; discuss the most appropriate strategies for success and analyze the results according to the project application. From the empirical point of view, our research model is presented as a case of study, and it is not possible to generalize the obtained results. We used a methodology of mixed nature, quantitative, whose data collection instrument was the questionnaire survey, and qualitative nature, whose data collection instrument was an interview with a script. The selection of participants was intentional, with a convenience sample consisting of 6 students from the PIEF class, 4 members of the PIEF Technical-Pedagogical Team, and the school headmaster, limiting the research to the only PIEF class in one of the institutions. belonging to a grouping of schools in Bragança, in the academic year 2018/2019. The obtained results allowed us to verify that the implementation of the PIEF fights the failure / dropout, although we perceive the need to smooth some edges of the project, making it clear a specific formation of the participants for an intervention. In this sense, the need for the presence of a social educator in the PIEF Technical-Pedagogical team emerges, in order to mediate conflicts and build social and educational bridges, with a view to the integration of these students in school and society.
