Abstract(s)
In addition to novels and varied narrative works of a rather youthful orientation, there has also been an interesting approach to the war theme in recent years in the illustrated album designed for all ages and for all recipients, although the war illustrated tradition can be traced back to comics in the Franco era and even comics about World War II in the United States. O soldado João by a renowned writer in Portugal, Luísa Ducla Soares, 10 petits soldats by Gilles Rapaport, La partida del soldado, by Javier de Isusi, Cañones y manzanas by Adela Turin y Sophie Giles, Rosa Blanca by Inocentti, La composición by Antonio Skármeta y Alfonso Ruano, or El enemigo by Davide Cali y Serge Bloch, among various titles. The final objective of this study is focused on a defined object: to offer an illustrated LIJ canon on soldiers and war conflict in Spanish for the Portuguese foreign student of higher education, in addition to the emerging awareness of the conflict, the sensibilization of peripheral or uncomfortable issues in the classroom and the final comparison between the emblematic text of Luísa Ducla Soares, and the one by Rapaport, as a non-Iberian example.
