Singing presents itself as one of the tools inherent to the existing practices in the Tunas. Like other musical instruments, the voice represents the way to spread repertoires of different genres, styles and tastes. From the review of the literature on the subject, as well as the contact and direct observation with some elements of various Tunas that are part of the Portuguese academic universe, with a focus on the north of the country, it is clear that sometimes there is a lack of knowledge of the care that should exist to take care of the voice. This lack of knowledge often leads to incorrect use of the voice, implying body and vocal postures that can impair the performance of those who sing and like to do so. The environments in the Tunas often encourage celebration, the most exacerbated fun and, in these situations, the voice can be used to the extreme, to the detriment of the singers. As a consequence, hoarseness, vocal fatigue, aphonia or other situations that alter vocal quality may occur. Like other musical instruments, the voice also needs care and techniques, both to communicate and to sing. Considering that the voice is part of the body and cannot be dissociated from it, the main purpose of this Workshop is to discuss and provide some clarifications on how to take care of the voice, to avoid less correct postures that, in some way, form can damage the vocal tract. For this purpose, a practical component is also presented, based on the construction of some body exercises and vocal technique. In conclusion, it is understood that the promotion of these debates on helping to reflect on the health of the voice, to sing or speak, or to create more correct habits and provide tools that can make the difference in a better posture, for those who are musicians in a Tuna.
