Devido à busca por redução de custos, os compósitos de polímeros reforçados com fibras naturais têm sido alvo de estudos nos últimos anos. A adequação das propriedades mecânicas dos materiais compósitos a algumas aplicações contribuem para que, atualmente, sejam utilizados de uma forma generalizada.
Na presente dissertação foram fabricados e caracterizados compósitos de matriz poliéster reforçados com fibras de cânhamo. Devido à grande variabilidade de propriedades e características das fibras vegetais, também foi realizado a caracterização mecânicas das fibras de cânhamo.
A técnica de correlação digital de imagem foi utilizada neste estudo para investigar a evolução das deformações das amostras durante os testes de tração. Os resultados mostram que é uma técnica adequada na caracterização do comportamento mecânico durante os ensaios realizados. Foi possível efetuar uma medição, sem contacto, do campo de deslocamentos e deformações. O objetivo principal é o de comparar as curvas de deslocamento obtidos da máquina de teste universal com o método de correlação digital de imagem.
Finalmente, as propriedades obtidas foram cuidadosamente analisadas de forma a melhor compreender o comportamento mecânico obtidos nos compósitos produzidos e apresentadas propostas para trabalhos futuros.
Due to the search for cost reduction, polymer composites reinforced with natural fibers have been the subject of studies in recent years. The adequacy of the mechanical properties of composite materials for some applications contributes to the fact that they are currently used in a generalized way. In this dissertation, polyester matrix composites reinforced with hemp fibers were manufactured and characterized. Due to the great variability of properties and characteristics of vegetable fibers, mechanical characterization of hemp fibers was also carried out. The digital image correlation technique was used in this study to investigate the evolution of sample deformations during the tensile tests. The results show that it is an adequate technique to characterize the mechanical behavior during the tests performed. It was possible to carry out a non-contact measurement of the displacement and deformation field. The main objective is to compare the displacement curves obtained from the universal testing machine with the digital image correlation method. Finally, the properties obtained were carefully analyzed in order to better understand the mechanical behavior obtained in the composites produced and proposals for future work were presented.
