  • Assessing the effects of technology adoption model on satisfaction and loyalty in streaming services
Publication . Mangini, Eduardo Roque; Silva, Rayssa Gabrielly; Lopes, Luisa; Esteves, Salete
The tremendous rise of demand for streaming services in the last decade, and during the pandemic COVID-19, has brought hope of a promising future for companies of this sector, where the determinants of customer satisfaction and loyalty are still to be fully understood. The empirical study presented in this paper seeks, as the primary goal, to analyze the factors that influence consumers’ loyalty to a streaming service. Seeking to answer the outlined research question, two types of sources were used in the present investigation: primary and secondary. Concerning the primary sources, quantitative research was used, with the convenience sampling technique for data collection, and a questionnaire that was applied online using institutional emails and social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp). The data (n= 205) were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. From the results obtained, it is possible to conclude that the main factors influencing loyalty toward a streaming platform are: perceived quality, ease of use, performance expectancy, and satisfaction. The analysis revealed a predictive validity of the three factors with satisfaction and, through this, to loyalty.
  • The role of value co-creation, delight and satisfaction on tourism loyalty: an empirical study in hospitality
Publication . Lopes, Luisa; Mangini, Eduardo; Esteves, Salete
This paper investigates the relationship between value co-creation, delight, satisfaction, and loyalty in the hospitality sector, considering the perceptions of hotel customers in Portugal. To gain deeper insights into hotel customers' perception of delight, developing and testing an integrated model was undertaken by examining the relationship between these variables to expand the theory of customer delight when related, as a novelty, with value co-creation, customer satisfaction, and loyalty. The data for this investigation was collected through a questionnaire administered to 178 hotel customers. The gathered data was then subjected to both descriptive and inferential analysis. To test the integrated model, the researchers used the Partial Least Squares (PLS) technique and validated it using Smart PLS 4.0 software. On the one hand, the results show that value co-creation has a direct positive effect on customer delight and, subsequently, influences the effect of customer delight on customer loyalty. On the other hand, value co-creation has a direct positive effect on customer satisfaction, which, in turn, positively influences loyalty. All four proposed hypotheses are supported.
  • Skew-product maps and heterodimensional cycles
    Publication . Esteves, Salete
In this thesis we study the dynamics generated by the creation of heterodimensional cycles, either of the partially hyperbolic type, with invariant foliations and onedimensional central dynamics, or associated to skew-product maps. In the rst scenario, we consider a one-parameter family unfolding a heterodimensional cycle associated to two saddles of di erent indices and such that the central dynamics is given by a concave di eomorphism. The study of the semi-local dynamics of this family, after the unfolding of the cycle, is then reduced to the analysis of a system of iterated functions, obtained by compositions of powers of the concave map with a translation. Motivated by the study of the this kind of iterated systems of functions, we introduce a more general model for partially hyperbolic systems: the skew-product maps associated to the bernoulli shift of n-symbols. In both cases we obtain conditions which ensure prevalence of hyperbolicity or, in the opposite direction, prevalence of non-hyperbolicity. In the skew-products case and under some non-hyperbolicity hypothesis, we prove the existence of an invariant ergodic and non-hyperbolic measure with an uncountable support. We also obtain an upper bound for the growth of the number of periodic orbits. We also introduce a two-parameter family model of di eomorphisms, being one the parameters associated to the unfolding of a heterodimensional cycle of the type described above, and the other associated to a special concave function that gives the central dynamics. In this case, depending on the two parameters, we are able to identify scalled intervals of hyperbolicity and of non-hyperbolicity, and furthermore describe the secondary bifurcations associated to the transition from hyperbolicity to non-hyperbolicity.

  • Feira Medieval de Torre de Moncorvo: Segmentação do visitante
Publication . Moreira, Raquel; Esteves, Elsa Tavares; Esteves, Salete
  • Global exponential stability of nonautonomous neural network models with continuous distributed delays
Publication . Esteves, Salete; Gokmen, Elçin; Oliveira, José J.
For a family of non-autonomous differential equations with distributed delays, we give sufficient conditions for the global exponential stability of an equilibrium point. This family includes most of the delayed models of neural networks of Hopfield type, with time-varying coefficients and distributed delays. For these models, we establish sufficient conditions for their global exponential stability. The existence and global exponential stability of a periodic solution is also addressed. A comparison of results shows that these results are general, news, and add something new to some earlier publication
  • Tourists' motivations in protected areas: the case of vale do Tua regional natural park (northeast Portugal)
Publication . Lopes, Luisa; Esteves, Salete; Santos, Lara
Considering the increased competition among tourism destinations, it becomes very important to identify the reasons why tourists choose to visit some destinations instead of others. Natural parks and other protected areas (PA) are popular destinations for people who want to enjoy nature-based leisure, travel, and ecotourism activities (Konu & Kajala, 2012). Indeed, despite the desire to enjoy the landscape, and nature in general, the broadening of knowledge and rest are considered ecotourism motivations, the motivations that lead people to visit PA are not homogeneous (Carneiro et al, 2006) and ecotourism market is not homogeneous (Wight, 2001). This empirical study identifies visitors´ motivations of a Portuguese protected area (PPA), the Vale do Tua Regional Natural Park (PNRVT), addressing the following research questions: What is the profile of PA visitors? Do motivations differ between different PA? What motivates tourists to visit the PNRVT? It seems important to know the perceptions and profile of potential visitors of PNRVT by understanding their motivations and the importance given to resources, activities, equipment, and services. " 109 Method: Data were collected by means of a self-administrated questionnaire reaching a convenience sample of 395 respondents. From those, only 100 (34.7%) respondents indicated that they had already visited the PNRVT and were considered for the evaluation of motivations of this natural park. The data obtained were analysed using Jamovi statistical program, using univariate and multivariate statistical techniques. Findings: From the results obtained, it is possible to conclude that visitors of PPAs aim to see nature, landscape, flora, fauna, and paths. Regarding the motivations for visiting the PNRVT, the question with a Likert scale between 1 (not at all important) and 5 (very important) shows that the most valued motivations are learn/expand knowledge and see a specific place, all with averages close to 4. Among the most valued is the have peace and calm/being away from the crowds and moving to a different environment/having new experiences. The least scored motivation was meeting new people. Those preferences and motivations are not similar to other PPA as Gerês and Sintra-Cascais (see Carneiro et al., 2006). Limitations: The main limitation of this study concerns the fact that the surveyed and convenience sample includes a small sample size of actual visitors to the PNRVT (n= 100), impeding representativeness. Practical implications: The present investigation contributes by helping public institutions and private companies to improve their tourism offerings and develop more efficient marketing plans. Knowledge of the expectations of potential visitors regarding infrastructure, products and services and the profile of potential visitors inform political and economic agents, contributing to the positioning of the PNRVT in the tourist market. Landscape, flora, fauna and pedestrian routes are the most appreciated resources on PNRVT. Originality: This empirical study reveals that the motivations for visiting different PA can be considerably different and compares different PPAs. The diversity of motivations to visit PA of different geographical areas and with different tourist attractions seems to exist. It also contributes by adding knowledge about a natural park in a low-density population region from the northeast interior of Portugal.
  • Marketing and sustainability: Consumer perceptions and marketing strategies applied to green marketing
Publication . Lopes, Luisa; Esteves, Salete; Sousa, Tony
Due to the importance of the topic of sustainability today, this study addresses the strategies and concepts associated with green marketing. Topics such as segmentation, identifying sustainable market segments, marketing mix management and communication challenges regarding the relationship between consumers' willingness to pay more and sustainability are covered. The present study aims to analyze consumers' perceptions and willingness to purchase sustainable products and inherently adopt sustainability causes. The study highlights the sociodemographic profile of those who adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives. The analysis and processing of the primary data collected (n= 74) focuses on a univariate and multivariate descriptive analysis. From the results obtained, and for the present sample, it is possible to conclude that there is a high predisposition and positive attitude towards purchasing environmentally friendly products. Furthermore, on the one hand, gender has an influence on the degree of concern for the environment and the belief that our actions have an impact on climate change, on the other hand, age has no influence on attitudes and beliefs regarding to the environment.
  • Global asymptotic stability of nonautonomous Cohen-Grossberg neural network models with infinite delays
Publication . Esteves, Salete; Oliveira, José J.
For a general Cohen-Grossberg neural network model with potentially unbounded time varying coefficients and infinite distributed delays, we give sufficient conditions for its global asymptotic stability. The model studied is general enough to include, as subclass, the most of famous neural network models such as Cohen-Grossberg, Hopfield, and bidirectional associative memory. Contrary to usual in the literature, in the proofs we do not use Lyapunov functionals. As illustrated, the results are applied to several concrete models studied in the literature and a comparison of results shows that our results give new global stability criteria for several neural network models and improve some earlier publications.
