The study on Representation and gender in Cape Verdean migration. Between space and Discourse aims to find out to what extent gender and representation influence the perceptions of Cape Verdean migrants, as well as their impact. Nowadays, in this globalized world, we see the coexistence of different nationalities and cultures in the same space, a factor that is enhanced by the phenomenon of migration and, consequently, the impacts it has on the migrant population. We can see that more than half of the world's migrants deal with more constraints in relation to migration, due to the difficulty in deciding whether to leave their family behind or take them with them, or also due to the possible possibilities offered in the country of destination. In this sense, we must consider the representations that can emerge in the face of cultural diversity, customs and habits. This research is based on two research questions - What impact do representation and gender issues have on the lives of Cape Verdean migrants? and how can representation and gender influence the perceptions of Cape Verdean migrants? In order to provide a possible answer, we outlined the following objectives: To get to know the reality of the lives of Cape Verdean migrants in Bragança; To analyze how representation and gender affect Cape Verdean migrants in Bragança; To understand the reasons why Cape Verdean migrants live in Bragança; To understand if there are any institutions in Bragança that help migrants and what work they do with them; To understand gender issues in the light of migration. The empirical basis of this study is based on a non-probabilistic convenience sample of 21 Cape Verdean migrants in Bragança and was consolidated using a mixed methodology of quantitative and qualitative research and content analysis. The results allowed us to verify the impact of representation and gender on Cape Verdean migrants in Bragança.
