Abstract(s)
The evolution of education over the years has been remarkable. The concern for a meaningful and functional curriculum has become more present, with a view to promoting school success. More interactive lessons with innovative and appealing strategies have become fundamental in a more modern school, as has the teacher-student relationship, which has also been adjusted to modern times. There has been a need to adapt teaching, moving away from more traditional teaching towards an equitable school with more participatory teaching. In this vein, children's participation has also become a regular topic, given the importance of placing children as active agents of their own learning. Children are an important part of society, with the ability to understand the world around them, and by putting them at the center of their learning, we are certainly promoting their interest and effective participation in finding answers to questions they have formulated themselves, pushing them to act, explore issues and reflect on them. The project work methodology meets these principles, valuing the active participation of the child, who seeks to present solutions to a problem, who investigates, shares and debates ideas, and ultimately presents the results. This study, which focuses on praxis, aims to analyses the children's involvement as researchers in a nursery, kindergarten, and primary school context and to understand how significant it is for them. The methodology used is qualitative, and the techniques used are participant observation, field notes, photographic records, and a questionnaire survey. Through several projects, we carried out activities that were conducive to the themes and that met the children's interests. According to the results obtained, children who carry out their own research, through the development of project work, for example, have greater autonomy, creativity, and problem-solving skills. In addition, this type of work provides opportunities to build meaningful relationships with peers and adults, educators and teachers, contributing to a rich and stimulating learning environment.
