Abstract(s)
Social media has had a profound impact on the way people share their lives and interact with the world. This study explores the notion of the "society of the spectacle" and how social media shapes the way people present their lives. In addition, it investigates how this trend affects the perception of reality, social relationships, and the psychological impacts of this constant exposure. To carry out the research, bibliographical analysis and a case study with a Mozambican digital influencer were used, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative methods. The information was analyzed using content analysis. The results show that social networks have become a stage where people expose their lives in a spectacular way, in search of validation and interaction. However, this quest for spectacle also raises questions about authenticity and psychological pressures. Comparison with the spectacularized narratives of others can generate feelings of inadequacy, while the idealized representation of life can distort the perception of reality. It is essential to find a healthy balance on social media, considering cultural and individual factors, to promote a balanced coexistence between the digital world and reality, highlighting the need for more research in this area.
