Abstract(s)
Este trabalho tem como objetivo verificar se existem diferenças significativas no consumo alimentar dos
adolescentes nas diversas refeições tendo em consideração se a refeição é feita em família ou com outros
indivíduos. Para o efeito, desenvolveu-se um estudo quantitativo, analítico e transversal numa escola
secundária do Norte de Portugal envolvendo uma amostra de 67 adolescentes com idades entre os 11 e
os 19 anos. Foram recolhidas medidas antropométricas (peso e altura) e, posteriormente, calculado o
índice de massa corporal (IMC). Foi entregue um diário alimentar de autopreenchimento a cada
adolescente, com os seguintes dados: refeição/hora, local, companhia, alimento, quantidades e
observações. Este só seria considerado válido se tivesse informação de dois dias úteis e um de fim de
semana. A análise estatística foi realizada no software SPSS 22.0 recorrendo ao teste T-Student e Mann-
Whitney-Wilcoxon ao nível de significância de 5%. Registaram-se diferenças, estatisticamente, significativas
na ingestão de gorduras polinsaturadas, hidratos de carbono totais, proteína total e proteína de alto valor
biológico, quando as refeições dos adolescentes eram feitas em contexto familiar. As refeições em família
foram propensas ao desenvolvimento de hábitos alimentares saudáveis, quando comparadas com as
refeições realizadas com outros indivíduos.
This study aims to verify if there are significant differences in the food consumption of adolescents considering whether the meal is made with the family or with other individuals. A quantitative, analytical and cross-sectional study was carried out in a secondary school in the northern of Portugal, involving a sample of 67 adolescents n with age between 11 and 19 years old. Anthropometric measures were taken (weight and height) and, subsequently, the body mass index (BMI) was calculated. Each adolescent was given a food self-report, with the following data: meal/hour, place, companionship, food, quantities and observations. This was only considered valid if it had information of two working days and one of weekend. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 22.0 software using the Student's T-test and Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon test at a significance level of 5%. There were statistically significant differences in the intake of polyunsaturated fats, total carbohydrates, total protein and high biological value protein when the adolescents' meals were eaten in the family context. Family meals were prone to the development of healthy eating habits when compared to meals eaten with other individuals.
