Abstract(s)
Public green spaces have a great influence on the quality of life of urban residents, contributing to the improvement of the environment and economic context, in addition to providing an area for social interaction. As in so many other places, public green spaces in the city of Bragança may have served as a refuge for some residents during the Covid- 19 pandemic. Due to several psychological disorders associated with the emergence of the pandemic, (change in sleep pattern, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic disorders), these spaces contributed to the improvement of mental and physical health, offering areas for the practice of physical activities, walking alone or with children, elderly or animals. The objective of this dissertation was to study the distribution of public green spaces in the city of Bragança and the population's relationship with them during the pandemic. The methodology was exploratory of a quantitative and qualitative nature, with the use of “Arcgis” software, to represent the availability and accessibility of green spaces, and an online survey who was carried out to analyze the use of green spaces during the pandemic the city of Bragança, in which around 214 residents participated. Results on the availability and accessibility of green spaces show that most public green spaces are located in the center of the city, favoring access in the vicinity, in contrast to scarcity found in peripherical neighborhoods. With regard to the application of the survey: it was found that the majority of respondents moved “on foot” to public green spaces, this is due to the fact that most respondents live within 5 to 15 minutes of a public green space, in addition, in the spring, there was a greater decrease in the use of these spaces during the emergence of Covid-19. In general, there was a decrease in the use of public green spaces during the emergence of the pandemic, due to the fear of contracting the disease, etc. Approximately 90% said they felt the need to frequent public green spaces with some regularity before the pandemic period.
