Abstract(s)
Este relatório tem como objetivo dar a conhecer todo o trabalho realizado no âmbito do estágio curricular inserido no Mestrado em Tradução, na Escola Superior de Educação no Instituto Politécnico de Bragança, concluído na empresa de serviços linguísticos SMARTIDIOM, nomeadamente na função de tradutora.
Atualmente, verifica-se uma crescente necessidade de traduções, aumentando exponencialmente o volume de trabalho das empresas, especialmente na Tradução Técnica (TT), daí que as empresas necessitem de empregar tradutores que tenham a capacidade de realizar traduções em diversas áreas, com boa qualidade e em pouco tempo. Como tal, existe um intenso debate relativamente ao facto de o tradutor ter ou não de se especializar numa área.
Por essas razões, este trabalho aborda as diferentes posições sobre o que define a TT, diferenciando-a da Tradução Científica e relacionando-a com a formação que o tradutor e o professor de tradução devem possuir, assim como as estratégias mais indicadas a utilizar e as melhores opções a implementar nos cursos de tradução.
A par destas questões de natureza mais teórica, vão ser abordadas as tarefas realizadas no decorrer do estágio desenvolvido, cujo trabalho se baseou maioritariamente na TT, assim como será referida a reflexão sobre a formação recebida, se foi adequada, ou não, para me permitir realizar esse trabalho.
Conclui-se ainda, com base nesta experiência pessoal, que o tradutor, além de necessitar de uma sólida formação como base, precisa de considerável experiência adicional para aprender e conseguir desempenhar um trabalho adequado e de capacidade de adaptação aos trabalhos que aparecem.
This report aims to present all the work conducted within the academic internship in the Master’s Degree of Translation, at the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, completed in the company SMARTIDIOM that offers linguistic service, in particular as a translator. Nowadays, a growing necessity of translations is acknowledged, which increases exponentially the workload of companies, especially in technical translation. Due to that, companies need to employ translators that have the capacity of carrying out translation in several areas, with good quality and in a short time. For instance, there is an intense discussion related to the requirement of translators to be, or not, experts in one area only. For those reasons, this report approaches the different opinions about what defines technical translation, distinguishing it from scientific translation and relating it to the training translators and their professors of translation should have, as well as the best strategies to use and the best options to take in the courses of translation. Apart from these theoretical considerations, I will also tackle the tasks performed during the internship, whose work was based predominantly on technical translation, as well as refer to the reflection about whether the training I received was appropriate, or not, to enable me to carry out such work. In conclusion, on the basis of this personal experience, the translator is required to both have solid training and considerable additional experience to learn and be able to do an adequate job, besides holding good adaptation skills to the projects that appear.
