Este trabalho problematiza a realização de práticas artístico-pedagógicas enquanto forma de design social, numa região periférica de Portugal, para fazer deslocar sujeitos de uma posição passiva, de mera contemplação estética dos objetos artísticos, para uma posição ativa, onde os sujeitos assumem o prota- gonismo da criação artística, em particular na área da música. É nesta senda que surge o Conservatório Regional de Macedo de Cavaleiros (CRMC), situado no coração do Nordeste Transmontano, como uma resposta ao histórico isolamento destas populações face aos recursos educativos na área do ensino artístico especializado. Para perceber este fenómeno, foi adotada uma abordagem metodológica mista, através da qual se analisaram as seguintes dimensões de desenvolvimento e de evolução, ao longo de dois anos letivos de funcionamento do CRMC: as práticas artístico-pedagógicas; a oferta e a procura educativa; a diversidade instrumental; a abrangência populacional e geográfica; as parcerias institucio- nais. Estes dados foram sujeitos a triangulação e permitiram concluir que as práticas artístico-pedagó- gicas têm sido uma estratégia fundamental para a dinamização da missão do CRMC, a vários níveis: no crescimento exponencial e geral da instituição; no envolvimento ativo da comunidade; na mudança do paradigma passivo para ativo dos sujeitos, no que respeita à dinamização artística e cultural da região; na consolidação do CRMC como plataforma de desenvolvimento artístico sustentável da região.
This work examines the implementation of artistic-pedagogical practices that have functioned as a form of social design in a peripheral region of Portugal, shifting individuals from a passive position—limited to the mere aesthetic contemplation of artistic objects—to an active role in which they assume protagonism in artistic creation, particularly in the field of music. It is along this trajectory that the Conservatório Regional de Macedo de Cavaleiros (CRMC) emerges, located in the heart of the Northeast of Trás-os-Montes, as a response to the historical isolation of these populations from educational resources in the area of specialised arts education. To understand this phenomenon, a mixed-methods approach was adopted, through which the following dimensions of development and evolution were analysed over two academic years of the CRMC’s operation: artistic-pedagogical practices; educational supply and demand; instrumental diversity; population and geographic reach; and institutional partnerships. These data were subjected to triangulation and allowed us to conclude that artistic-pedagogical practices have been a fundamental strategy for advancing the CRMC’s mission at multiple levels: in the institution’s overall exponential growth; in the active engagement of the community; in shifting the paradigm from passive to active participation in the region’s artistic and cultural dynamism; and in consolidating the CRMC as a sustainable platform for the artistic development of the region.
