Abstract(s)
ambiente, incluindo pares, família e normas sociais.
According to the literature review carried out, harassment, whether moral or sexual, is a very common reality in women's daily lives, constituting a serious problem for society. This harassing conduct produces serious consequences for the victim, from loss of selfesteem, anxiety, and depression, and in very serious cases, can lead to death. Therefore, it is necessary to understand this problematic phenomenon to implement appropriate intervention projects, based on women's perceptions. To this end, a qualitative nature empirical study was carried out, using semi-structured interviews as a data collection method, with the participants being selected intentionally, based on specific criteria: being a woman and being a resident of the city of Penafiel. This research has the problem question: What is the perception of women regarding behaviors considered as moral and/or sexual harassment in public places? Faced with this issue, the following objectives were developed: (1) Explore the perceptions that women have about moral and sexual harassment; (2) Systematize women's views on the consequences of moral and sexual harassment.; (3) Understand whether women consider moral and sexual harassment to be a type of socially tolerated violence. Through the results collected, we verified that harassment, whether moral or sexual, in public places, is present in women's daily lives. It occurs in different ways and is normalized due to certain beliefs that belittle and tolerate it based on the concept of some triggering factors. It is concluded, therefore, that beliefs play a fundamental role in sustaining harassment against women, as a justification for its perpetuation in society. Furthermore, harassment, as a behavior rooted in beliefs and attitudes, is deeply influenced by the environment, including peers, family and social norms. This investigation provided crucial results for a deeper understanding of moral and sexual harassment against women. In particular, it shed light on victims' perceptions, allowing us to understand why women are often hesitant to report this type of violence.
