Abstract(s)
The quality of a road pavement is guaranteed in two distinct phases of its design, firstly in the design phase, requiring an adequate structural design, requiring knowledge of the mechanical characteristics of the materials of the layers that make up the pavement and its foundation, and finally during its execution on site, due to the quality of the construction processes and materials used, making it convenient to verify the values adopted in the project and make possible adaptations to the pavement structure according to the results obtained. Recent road pavements are often seen during the first years of use, with large areas degraded, resulting in a premature reduction of their quality. The quality of construction has a decisive influence on the residual life of pavements, in addition, the knowledge of design data and the adoption, increasingly, of mechanistic empirical methods allow us to support the study of the evolution of pavement performance in a more reliable way. The present work intends to evaluate the variability of construction factors and their influence on the structural behavior of a flexible pavement. This is a study that considers a real pavement, having considered the data collected during the improvement works of E.N. 221 between Km 56+200 and Km 79+100. It determines the states of tension and extension in the bituminous layers, resulting from the variability of the work factors: bitumen percentage, filler percentage, degree of compaction and thickness of the bituminous layers.
