Abstract(s)
In the productive sphere of business, large companies stand out in the indicators, represent economies and move significant amounts of money. However, it is Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) that play a crucial role in the economic structure of different countries. They have a circular impact on cities, promote entrepreneurship, create jobs and enable process innovation. In this sense, SME play a particularly strategic role in the Portuguese context. This work aims to study strategic management in search of competitive advantage. This will make it possible to produce comparative analyses between theory and practice in a micro-enterprise in the north of Portugal, in Mirandela. The emphasis of the studies will be on evaluating the strategic management adopted by the company studied in three dimensions: (1) Strategic management, (2) Positioning, and (3) Competitive advantage. The methodology used for the research involved a literature review and the creation of a semi-structured interview script, which was applied to the company's manager. The results show that the company under study is vulnerable to strategy. SME are less financially supported since the business context is much faster, and strategy is experienced in practice through cycles of immediate action and reaction and in processes of constant learning and adaptation.
