Abstract(s)
The sustainability of wine production is defined by the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) as the global strategy that includes all stages of the wine production cycle since the production of grapes. They also consider the economic sustainability of structures and territories, the production of quality products, taking into account the requirements of sustainable viticulture, environmental risks, safe production, consumer health and historical, cultural, ecological and landscape heritage. This dissertation has as main objective the study of different ways of canopy management of the Loureiro variety (Vitis vinifera L.) in order to proceed to the total mechanization of the vine: from pruning to harvesting. Three blocks were defined where the pruning of the four different ways of canopy management was carried out. The idealized treatments are: High Mechanics, Mechanics with Wires, LYS and Mechanics without Wires. In each line, 6 grapevines were defined per pruning treatment and their evolution was monitored throughout 2018. The results show that in terms of the evolution of the phenological stages there were no differences between the treatments; the LYS and MSA systems were the ones that obtained the highest rate of thrashing; the MCA modality obtained the highest IFP; In the most important parameter, the LYS modality production was the one in which we obtained the highest production although in the other modalities, production was close to 30 t / ha, well above the production limits of the Vinho Verde region. The methods presented in this work are duly adapted for the total mechanization of the processes from pruning to harvesting, without loss of quality of grapes and wine. Despite the good results, the modality without wires will be altered, due to the difficulty of work felt during the test.
