Abstract(s)
insucesso no ensino desta disciplina.
Nowadays, statistics is increasingly a subject indispensable in the laboratory of human knowledge. This science is, together with information systems, one of the basic pillars of the Information Society, in rapid development and increasingly looking for greater achievement in the field of human beings over natural and social phenomena, in order to prevent and anticipates them. It is thus a discipline across all areas of scientific and technological knowledge. Thus, their learning and uptake by citizens should be crowned with success. It however appears that it teaching seems to be tainted with a certain failure, and such a situation has no borders, so S. Tome and Principe is no exception to the rule. The study made was aimed to equate the challenges around the process of Teaching and Learning of Statistics. In this regard, a systematic review was developed to systematize the characteristics of the teaching methods in general and statistics in particular, trying to relate it with the reports of the relative failure in teaching this subject. Particular emphasis was given to studies and analyzes in Brazil, Portugal and other countries within the cognitive area, hoping to contribute to the dissemination of educational tools, and often unknown or poorly applied in schools by teachers and educators. In empirical research, it was decided to seek to know from the perspective of students, the target group in the teaching-learning process, and what are the barriers or constraints that can be identified, serialized and diagnose solutions in teaching statistics. Data collection in the field was directed to a group of students in higher education, and in that sense, we heard from them through questionnaire surveys, the opinion of students of the Polytechnic of S. Tome and Príncipe (ISP). We hope that the conclusions and recommendations drawn from this study, based on this survey will help to promote better days of success in Teaching and Learning Statistics in S. Tome and Principe.
