Abstract(s)
Desde os anos 40 que a consciência humana despertou se para os problemas
ambientais mas só nos anos 70 é que o homem se preocupa com Educação
Ambiental, depois de tomada da consciência da degradação do ambiente provocada
pelo homem. Atualmente é uma área que tem vindo a ganhar grande relevância por
conta do cenário do mundo atual. É atribuído à escola um papel importante na
aquisição dos conhecimentos, das competências, das atitudes e dos valores para uma
cidadania ambiental consciente e responsável.
O presente trabalho tem a pretensão de estudar e compreender a Educação Ambiental
no 1º nível de ensino básico em S.Tomé. Consiste em saber, por um lado, de que
forma este conhecimento está sendo passado aos alunos deste nível de ensino e, por
outro lado entender a relevância dada ao assunto pela entidade superior do mesmo
nível do ensino. A amostra foi constituída por 16 professores de 2 escolas do 1º nível
do ensino básico, sendo 8 professores de cada escola e abarcando, assim,
professores de todas as classes do mesmo nível. Além dos professores, colaboraram
no estudo 3 dirigentes do mesmo nível do ensino.
A partir da análise dos resultados, podemos verificar que ainda há muito à fazer no
sistema do ensino do 1º nível em S.Tomé para se a alcançar formação do individuo
ambientalmente educado, capaz se comprometer com as causas efetivas de defesa
do ambiente. Há muito a fazer ao nível dos programas, do incentivo, da formação e
informação dos professores, das condições e meios para trabalhar esta matéria.
Concluímos ser necessário mais informações para um melhor desenvolvimento de
projetos de Educação Ambiental no 1º nível do ensino básico e salientamos ainda a
necessidade de um ensino mais ajustado com os valores que caracterizam a
Educação Ambiental, adaptado às realidades sociais e económicas em que se
inserem os nossos alunos e. É ainda indispensável que os currículos académicos
passem a ter mais conteúdos relacionados com a valorização do ambiente como um
património da humanidade.
Since the 40s the human consciousness has awakened to environmental problems, but only in the 70s is that the man cares for Environmental Education, after consciousness raising of environmental degradation caused by man. Nowadays this area has been gaining great importance due to the current world scenario. It is attributed to the school an important role in the acquisition of knowledge, skills, attitudes and values for an environmentally consciousness and responsible citizenship. This essay intends to study and to understand the Environmental Education on the 1st level of basic education in São Tomé. Consisted in, on the one hand, how this knowledge is being passed to the students of higher education and, on the other hand understands the importance given to the subject by the superior entity of the same level of education. The sample consisted of 16 teachers from two schools of the 1st level of basic education, 8 of each school and including teachers of all classes of the same level. Besides the teachers, it has also cooperated in this study 3 leaders of the same level of education. From the analysis of the results, we can see that there is still much to do in the education system of the 1st level S.Tomé for training the individual to achieve environmentally educated, able to commit to the effective causes of environmental protection. There is much to do in terms of programs, incentives, training and information for teachers, the conditions and means to work this issue. We conclude that it is necessary additional information for a better development of Environmental Education projects in the 1st level of basic education and emphasize the need of an education more adjusted to the values that characterize environmental education, adapted to the social and economic realities in which our students operate and it is still essential that the academic curricula start to have more content related to enhancement of the environment, as a heritage of humanity.
