A presente dissertação procurou compreender de que forma é que os jovens que praticaram comportamentos delinquentes assumem a responsabilidade dos seus atos. Para além de, se procurar entender o locus de controlo que os jovens têm, também se pretende averiguar se existem diferenças de género na forma como os jovens entendem as causas dos seus acontecimentos de vida.
Para dar resposta aos objetivos desta investigação, optou-se pela metodologia qualitativa recorrendo à entrevista semiestruturada para explorar as perceções dos jovens que se encontram em Centros Educativos. Após analisados todos os dados, verifica-se que existe uma maior internalização face aos acontecimentos e circunstâncias da vida no género masculino. Contrariamente, o género feminino, apresenta um locus de controlo mais externo, considerando o seu comportamento como algo independente do seu controlo.
This dissertation sought to understand how young people who have practiced delinquent behaviors perceive the responsibility of their actions. In addition to trying to understand the locus of control that young people have, it also wants to find out if there are gender differences in the way young people understand the causes of their life events. To respond to the objectives of this research, the qualitative methodology was chosen using semi-structured interviews to explore the perceptions of young people who are in Educational Centers. After analyzing all the data, it is verified that there is a greater internalization in the face of the events and circumstances of life in the male gender. On the contrary, the female gender has a more external locus of control, considering her behavior as something independent of her control.
