Abstract(s)
os seguintes objetivos: Cantar; Aprender e valorizar o património musical português;
This report seeks to make a brief reflection on the Project Work implemented in a 6th grade class at Colégio de Santa Clara, on Terceira Island. As a starting point, and based on the literature, I elaborated a theoretical framework establishing a parallelism between the collection of songs and their subsequent transformation into teaching materials for music teaching by Zoltán Kodály and Béla Bartók, and the work carried out by Fernando Lopes -Graça and Michel Giacometti in Portugal. Being a resident in the Azores, it made sense to me to idealize a project that would meet the work of the authors mentioned above, but with traditional Azorean songs and having the voice as the main instrument/vehicle of learning. In this way and based on some songs extracted from the region's songbook, I composed some arrangements to teach the contents of the subject of Music Education. With this project I tried to demonstrate that the songs of our tradition are teaching materials as valid as the so-called “erudite” works for teaching the contents of the Musical Education and achieving the following objectives: Singing; Learn and value Portuguese musical heritage; Discover the traditional Azorean repertoire; Use traditional song as a resource to learn/work on content from the Music Education. The work presented in this document represents a small sample of what could be one of the many possible approaches and tools for teaching music.
