Angiogenesis is a requirement for tumor growth and metastasis and occurs through several signalling pathways. One key pathway that initiates proliferation and migration of endothelial cells is signalling through the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2).1 Therefore, small molecules that block this signalling pathway through inhibition of VEGFR-2 tyrosine kinase activity could potentially inhibit angiogenesis and tumor growth. Recently works describing thienopyrimidine2 and thienopyrimidine 1,3-diarylureas3 as VEGFR-2 inhibitors have emerged in the literature. Here we present the synthesis of new 1-aryl-3-(4-(7-methylthieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4-yloxy)phenyl)ureas 2 in high yields by reaction of 4-[(7-methylthieno[3,2-d]pyridin-4-yl)oxy]aniline 1 with arylisocyanates. Here we present the synthesis of new 1-aryl-3-[ 4-(thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4- yloxy)phenyl]ureas from the aminodi(hetero)arylether 1, also prepared by us, which was reacted with arylisocyanates to give the corresponding 1,3-diarylureas 2a-c.

Here, we present the synthesis of new 1-aryl-3-[4-(thieno[3,2-d) pyrimidin-4-yloxy)phenyl]ureas by promoting t he regioselective attack of the hydroxy group of the 4-aminophenol in the chlorine nucleophilic displacement on two 4-chlorinated thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidines, obtaining compounds la and 1b which were reacted with arylisocyanates to give t he corresponding 1,3-diarylureas 2a-f (see scheme). These compounds were evaluated for inhibition of VEGFR2 tyrosine kinase activity using enzymatic assays, and 2a- c showed good inhibition ability with IC50 values in the range of hundreds of nanomolar. The rationale for the inhibition activity is also discussed using docking. To examine the activity of 2a- c in endothelial cells, human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were cultured in the presence or absence of each compound in different concentrations. A decrease in the proliferation of HUVECs was observed by the incorporation of BrdU quantified by ELISA assay. Given the established role of VEGFR2 in proliferation and migration of endothelial cells, these molecules are promising antiangiogenic agents that can be used for therapeutic purposes in pathological conditions where angiogenesis is exacerbated, such as cancer.
- O 1.º Jardim-de-infância privado da Cidade de Bragança PortugalPublication . Castanheira, LuisO estudo que compõe o trabalho aqui apresentado sistematiza os resultados da investigação realizada sobre a história da 1a instituição particular de Educação Pré-escolar que surgiu em Bragança. A sua abertura foi no ano de 1956 durante o regime Salazarista, que influenciou profundamente a sociedade portuguesa que nunca se mobilizou para inscrever as questões educativas no centro das suas prioridades inadiáveis, senão a partir do final da década de 60. A temporalidade em que decorre a análise das fontes empíricas sobre esta instituição estende- se, ao longo da segunda metade do século XX, mais precisamente durante o último período do Estado Novo e nos primeiros doze anos após o 25 de abril de 1974, períodos marcantes na sociedade portuguesa. Por um lado, moveram-me motivações pessoais e profissionais; por outro, a evidência, para mim cada vez mais tornada uma exigência, de que a História da Educação em Portugal ficará mais completa com a realização de estudos locais sobre educação em geral e a Educação de Infância em particular. Ao dar a conhecer todo o processo de criação e abertura de um jardim-de-infância privado num tempo onde ainda havia crianças não frequentavam a escola primária, é fundamental conhecer e valorizar a criação de instituições educativas em locais e tempos difíceis de o conseguir. Com este estudo procuro averiguar o espaço que a criança ocupou na sociedade do espaço em geral e nesta instituição em particular, na sociedade de Bragança. As principais fontes primárias em que me baseei consistem em material publicado: monografias e artigos de revistas pedagógicas, imprensa diária e periódica local (em especial o jornal Mensageiro de Bragança que se publica continuamente desde 1940), regional e nacional, legislação e por fim, mas não menos importante, algumas memórias de Educadoras de Infância, crianças que frequentaram esta instituição e o seu pessoal dirigente que trabalharam nesta instituição em estudo. Vale, portanto, ressaltar que é meu propósito, recriar a experiência desta instituição em Educação de Infância na cidade de Bragança e contribuir assim para uma formação mais completa e para uma melhor reflexão sobre a profissão de Educador de Infância. A história de uma instituição é um processo de investigação em que a instituição e a educação se articulam por ação dos sujeitos, situados num horizonte sócio- cultural que define a sua existência e o sentido de cada um face aos seus interesses, motivações e expetativas.

Quina, Nelson; Cardoso, Mário; Fuente, LucíaO ritmo acelerado das constantes transformações da sociedade contemporânea convoca e provoca profundas mudanças nos modelos de trabalho, lazer e relações sociais, tornando cada vez mais notória a necessidade de a educação adicionar novos padrões de forma a acompanhar a mudança global, guiando e preparando os alunos na resposta aos desafios e problemáticas do sec. XXI. Na direção de integrar o potencial das linguagens e sensibilidades artísticas, o presente trabalho relata um projeto artístico desenvolvido no campo de ação do doutoramento, tendo como objetivo a criação de um espaço de aprendizagem integrada (Laboratório STEAM) para a conceção de ações exploratórias de aquisição de competências (artísticas, educativas e relacionais) através de experiências práticas/artísticas num contexto real, colocando sucessivos desafios. Estas ações são eminentemente experimentais, destinadas a professores e estudantes do 1.o ciclo do Ensino Básico, de forma a proporcionar oportunidades de assimilação de sensações/emoções/aprendizagens de uma forma incorporada e integrada. Tendo como ponto de partida um conjunto de obras de arte (O quarto em Arles) de Vincent Van Gogh, para o desenvolvimento de competências, como a colaboração e a sensibilidade para o sentido estético-artístico trabalhadas no Laboratório STEAM, dando origem a 4 obras de arte de criação colaborativa por parte dos alunos, com as caraterísticas do estilo do artista.

Jesus, Sérgio; Costa, M.J.; Marinho, D.A.; Garrido, Nuno D.; Silva, A.J.; Barbosa, Tiago M.The aim of this work was to compare the stroke kinematics and race times of the freestyle final races at the 13th FINA World Championships between: (i) the three medalists versus the last three finalists; (ii) males versus female swimmers; (iii) all events in each gender. Data was collected from the champioships official web site. There were no significant differences in the stroke kinematics neither in the race times between medallists and non-medallists. There were significant effects in the stroke kinematics and race times according to race event. There were significant effects in the stroke kinematics and race times according to swimmers gender. It seems there are different tactics and biomechanical strategies according to gender and swimming event.

Pires, Rui A.R.; Alves, Maria C.G.; Rodrigues, Lúcia LimaThe main purpose of this paper is to analyse and understand the evolution of the strategic management accounting (SMA) literature by performing a meta-analysis of literature and critiquing of SMA papers published in the leading journals in the field covering fifteen years: 2000-2014 inclusive. We performed a descriptive meta-analysis of 43 SMA papers published in five top ranked accounting journals in order to provide a broad perspective of the field. We use a method and techniques previously employed in the field of management accounting to select and classify the papers. The main findings presented in the paper provide some light about the main topics studied, research settings, theories, methods, and primary data analysis used in SMA research. Therefore, this paper extends upon the previous literature reviews, by extending the scope and the time frame. In addition, this paper provides a meta-analysis of the SMA literature never done before in the field of the SMA.
