- Development of a small robot prototype for educational purposesPublication . Marta, Emanuel de Jesus Soares; Lima, José; Gonçalves, José; Oliveira, André SchneiderThe project consisted of simulating an Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) system and creating a model of an AGV that will serve as a teaching kit for future generations. The simulation was performed in SIMTWO, a realistic robotics simulator. Three simulations were built of increasing complexity starting from the simple line movements to AGV systems. It was plotted in each simulation the most important graphs to present the reader and explain what has happened. Moreover CAD files were created of the AGV using 3D printing and assembled. Then, a software that runs on the Arduino, was developed, and it uses a six-byte combination of symbols and numbers to control the AGV.
- Robot development for educational purposes: advances on real and simulation environmentsPublication . Marta, Emanuel de Jesus Soares; Gonçalves, José; Lima, Joséowadays, Automated Guides Vehicles and Autonomous Mobile Robots are equipped with electromagnetic or optical automatic guiding devices and can navigate, interact, perform path planning and avoid obstacles. It is crucial to develop applications to support the teaching by real and/or simulated robots. In this paper the authors propose a simulation of an AGV system, that uses localization based on mounted cameras for positioning and control by a central system. Also, a real robot prototype is proposed. The mobile robot should reach the destination point precisely and kept inside the desired margins, avoiding collisions. The presented results show the developed system in operation.
