Abstract(s)
A primeira
impacto ambiental e maior economia anual €7.500.
This dissertation reports fieldwork, supported by a scholarship, carried out at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB) during a period of twelve months. The field work consisted of developing support measures for the management and continuous improvement of the energy efficiency of the IPB's resources and was carried out together with the IPB's maintenance team. A report on field work and a case study on the energy certification of one of the IPB buildings are presented. The bibliographical research concerns the energy efficiency actions of service buildings and their respective benefits when applied. The two results obtained during the fieldwork and reported in this thesis were (1) Completion of the Eco.Ap 2030 Resource Efficiency Plan, which proposes the implementation of measures aimed at the efficiency of resources used in the IPB, such as water, electricity, natural gas, and fuel. This could result in an expected annual savings of €55,000 and an investment of around €65,000. (2) The energy audit of the IPB facilities, carried out by a contracted company, was followed up, so I was able to identify the current and expected energy classes if the opportunities for improvements proposed by the company were met. Discussing the suggestions of the energy audit in one of the buildings of the IPB, the Superior School of Education (ESE), as happened in this case study, indicates two measures that may represent greater economic benefits and well-being. The first measure concerns the replacement of boilers, which can generate annual savings of €5,500. The second measure concerns the replacement of the ESE's exterior and interior lighting, which could save €3,300. The case study indicated that the suggestion of the contracted company, MMec, to replace the ESE boilers with condensing boilers did not obtain the best results when compared to other objects of study. The heat pump was the one with the lowest environmental impact and the highest annual savings of €7,500.
