Abstract(s)
New technologies are increasingly sought after by children who begin their use at ages when they may not have the maturity to understand the dangers and risks of them. In this way, it becomes essential an exquisite mediation, by the parents, for the good use of new technologies, including the ability of communication and emotional intelligence. In this sense, the present investigation "the role of emotional intelligence and communication styles in skills in positive digital parenting", started from the problem question, "What role do emotional intelligence and parental communication styles play in positive digital parenting skills?". To answer this question the follow objectives were defined: to understand what skills of positive digital parenting parents have to mediate the use of their children’s digital technologies; understand the relationship between emotional intelligence and positive digital parenting skills; understand how communication styles influence positive digital parenting skills; identify, through the results achieved, the possibilities of intervening in positive digital parenting. The questionnaire was completed by 168 respondents of both sexes. The main results revealed that the higher the level of emotional intelligence, the greater the digital parenting skills. In addition, when parents have an appropriate style of communication, greater will be their skills to intervene directly with digital parenting skills.
