O impacto da queima doméstica de biomassa lenhosa nos níveis de PM2,5 na cidade de Bragança, Portugal

| dc.description.abstract | A influência da combustão doméstica de biomassa lenhosa na fração PM2,5 das partículas em suspensão na atmosfera foi avaliada na cidade de Bragança, Portugal. As concentrações de PM2,5 foram medidas em 35 locais urbanos, em períodos diurnos e noturnos, entre dezembro de 2013 e maio de 2014. Procedeu‑se também à recolha de variáveis potencialmente determinantes da distribuição espacial das concentrações de material particulado e ao estabelecimento de relações estatísticas entre essas variáveis e as concentrações de PM2,5. As variações temporais e os padrões espaciais obtidos para os níveis atmosféricos de PM2,5 destacaram o elevado contributo das emissões de PM2,5 a partir da queima doméstica de lenha. Os níveis noturnos de PM2,5 foram em geral mais elevados nas zonas de menor altitude, de maior densidade populacional e de maior intensidade de queima de biomassa. Os resultados também evidenciaram que no período de estudo, as concentrações médias diárias de PM2,5 tenderam a ultrapassar o valor de referência de curto prazo de PM2.5, estabelecido pela Organização Mundial de Saúde, em mais de metade da área urbana. Este estudo reforça a importância da necessidade de monitorizar e controlar esta fonte de poluição atmosférica em cidades que privilegiam o uso da lenha como recurso energético. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | We evaluated the influence of residential firewood combustion in the PM2,5 fraction of the atmospheric particulate matter in the city of Bragança, Portugal. Day and night time measurements were carried out between December 2013 and May 2014 in 35 urban sampling points. We also collected data on potential influencing factors of air particle concentration which we related statistically with PM2,5 observation data. Temporal variation and spatial patterning of atmospheric PM2,5 concentrations highlighted the contribution of PM2,5 emissions from domestic firewood use. Night time levels of PM2,5 were in general higher in areas of lower altitude, higher population density and higher firewood combustion intensity. Our results also indicated that during the study period, mean daily PM2,5 concentrations were higher than the World Health Organization reference level in more than half of the city area. This study strengthened the importance of monitoring and controlling this source of atmospheric pollution in cities of high use of firewood for energy. | pt_PT |
