Abstract(s)
Oliveira do Hospital, Arganil, Góis, Lousã, Miranda do Corvo, Penela, Ansião, Alvaiázere e
contexto do turismo religioso, peregrinação, peregrino/turista religioso e devoção Mariana;
The main purpose of this study is to propose the creation of the Long Walking Trail Marian of Trás-os-Montes - Fátima, which will begin at the Cathedral of Bragança and end at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima. It is intended that the Long Walking Trail be the main route that pilgrims take to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima. The "backbone" will be between the cities of Bragança and Fátima, passing through the municipalities of Macedo de Cavaleiros, Mirandela, Vila Flor, Torre de Moncorvo, Vila Nova de Foz Côa, Meda, Trancoso, Celorico da Beira, Gouveia, Seia, Oliveira do Hospital, Arganil, Góis, Lousã, Miranda do Corvo, Penela, Ansião, Alvaiázere e Ourém. The connection of the remaining municipalities belonging to the Diocese of Bragança-Miranda should be made through the creation of Short Walking Trails of access to the Long Walking Trail. Specific objectives of this research project are the analysis of the current state of the art in the context of religious tourism, pilgrimage, pilgrim/religious tourist and Marian devotion; understand the importance of religious tourism and the implementation of walking trails for local and regional development; identify the itinerary currently used and consequently propose a safer itinerary for pilgrims and pedestrianists. The project objectives are achieved with resources at two levels of analysis: primary and secondary sources. In the primary sources we chose to conduct interviews to guides and pilgrims who walk on foot to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima, which was the tool used in the empirical investigation. As a secondary source it was used specialized bibliography on the themes of pilgrimage, religious tourism, pilgrim and religious tourist, Marian devotion and pedestrianism, as well as the identification of the current itineraries and the proposal of the Long Walking Trail based on Geographic Information Systems that contributed as a theoretical apportion of this project.
