Abstract(s)
Physical activity (PA) represents a healthy way in adolescents. However, the mediation role of social support between perceived benefits and barriers (BB) to PA and PA needs to be explored. The aim ostudy was to analyze the association between BB to PA, social support and PA levels in adolescents, and the mediation role of BB. Methods: Participants were adolescents (n=497) of both sexes (M= 16.15; SD= 1.59). Psychosocial variables and PA were collected by self-reported measures. Structural equation modeling and mediation analysis were performed. Hypothesized model fit the data and showed an invariance criterion between sexes. Results: Full mediation was observed, namely the path between social support from parents, friends and best friend’s and perceived benefits to PA and levels of PA. Conclusions: In conclusion, social support, especially from best friend and perceived benefits to PA, seems to be implications for levels of PA, independently of the adolescent sex.
