Abstract(s)
Correlativamente, as
A análise quantitativa
Alguns desses significados associam Meio Ambiente a
Comunidade e Poluição a Agressão Antropológica. As conclusões do estudo permitem
Environmental education may guide the world's population on the principles to be observed in the relationship between man and nature. In Sao Tome and Principe, the academic community has awakened to the environmental issues. This study seeks to achieve two objectives: (1) to see if there is a propensity or sensitivity to the preservation of the environment among students in higher education; (2) understand the perception of the higher education students with regard to environmental education as a right. Two hypotheses were constructed: (H1) students would have environmental awareness and (H2) would conceive Environmental Education as a Right. The instrument used was a questionnaire devised for this study, with closed and open questions. It was applied to 23 students, after pre-test. The data collected were of two types: quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative analysis sought to elucidate whether there were statistically significant relationships between variables (e.g., gender /age level and the choice of response options in closed questions). Qualitative analysis was the most important and was based on the grounded theory approach of Strauss and Corbin (1994). Its purpose was the extraction of the main meanings of answers to open questions. Some of these meanings associate Environment to Community and Pollution to Anthropological Aggression.
