Mushrooms are a vast and yet largely untapped source of powerful new pharmaceutical products.
In particular, and most importantly for modern medicine, they represent an unlimited source of compounds with antitumor and immunostimulating properties [1). Particularly, the intake of some wild mushrooms has shown to reduce the risk of breast cancer in Chinese women [2] and inhibited the proliferation of human tumour cell lines [3].
