Abstract(s)
Atualmente, a criação de experiências turísticas memoráveis (ETM) é cada vez mais
importante no setor do turismo. Perceber o que são estas experiências turísticas
memoráveis e quais as dimensões que interferem na sua criação é crucial para os gestores
do destino. Assim, ajuda-os a definir planos estratégicos para que os visitantes usufruam
na totalidade dos elementos tangíveis e intangíveis por forma a proporcionar experiências
únicas e experiências turísticas memoráveis. Estas terão um impacto positivo para o
destino pois os visitantes são muito influenciados pelas suas experiências anteriores de
viagem e também pelas experiências de terceiros. Nesse sentido, este trabalho de
investigação pretende identificar as dimensões das experiências turísticas memoráveis
dos visitantes da cidade do Porto. Para tal, aplicou-se um inquérito por questionário aos
estudantes internacionais do Instituto Politécnico de Bragança. Da análise das seis
dimensões teóricas, verificou-se que as dimensões que mais contribuem para a criação
das experiências turísticas memoráveis são o hedonismo, a renovação, a novidade, e o
envolvimento.
Com este estudo pretende-se apresentar a importância das experiências turísticas
memoráveis aos gestores do destino Portugal e, especificamente, com base no foco deste
trabalho, aos gestores do destino Porto. As dimensões apresentadas são referentes a uma
pequena amostra de estudantes, no entanto, permite compreender quais as dimensões que
mais impactam os jovens, mais ligados a atividades que lhe proporcionem prazer e
diversão, que consideram que o relaxamento e o sair do seu quotidiano é importante para
ter uma viagem memorável, que gostam de conhecer locais e culturas novas e de se
envolver nas atividades que praticam.
Currently, there is a growing importance within the tourism sector regarding the creation of memorable tourism experiences (MTE). Understanding what these memorable tourism experiences are and what dimensions influence their creation is extremely important for tourist destination managers. In fact, it helps them to strategically plan in order to provide the tourists with a unique experience enjoying the tangible and/or intangible elements and, with that, enhance the creation of a memorable tourism experience. These MTE will have a positive impact on the destination, as visitors are highly influenced by their previous traveling experiences as well as with the experiences of others. Thus, this research aims to identify the dimensions of memorable tourism experiences for visitors of the city of Porto. To do so, a survey was applied to the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança’s international students. It was found that, of the six theoretical dimensions considered, in the present case, the dimensions that contribute the most to the creation of memorable tourism experiences were hedonism, renewal, novelty, and involvement. With this study we bring to dicussion the importance of memorable tourism experiences to the destination managers of Portugal and, specifically, regarding the focus of this work, to Porto destination managers. The dimensions presented refer to a small sample of students, however it is already possible to understand the dimensions that most impact young people, who are more linked to activities that give them pleasure and fun, which consider relaxation and leaving their daily lives important to have a memorable trip and like to visit and discover new places and cultures and to get involved in the activities they practice.
