Qualidade de vida relacionada com a saúde em pacientes submetidos a cirurgia de descompressão do nervo mediano

| dc.description.abstract | Realizámos um estudo prospetivo em 50 pacientes, com uma idade média de 60,7±11,7 anos, maioritariamente mulheres (52%), cirurgicamente intervencionados para resolução da Síndrome do Túnel Cárpico (STC). Eram diabéticos 8% dos participantes e 64% das mulheres eram pós-menopáusicas. Como fatores de risco para a STC encontrou-se ainda sobrepeso em 48% dos utentes da amostra, obesidade de grau I em 26% e obesidade grau II em 4%. O objetivo do estudo consistiu em avaliar a gravidade dos sintomas e o estado funcional, através do Questionário de Boston, e a qualidade de vida, através do MOS SF-36 v2 (versão portuguesa), aos 2 meses após cirurgia. No pré-operatório, verificou-se que a mão afetada apresentava valores significativamente inferiores de força de preensão palmar e força de preensão digital quando comparada com a mão contralateral (p<0,05). Relativamente aos resultados em saúde, salientamos os seguintes: na dimensão gravidade dos sintomas as diferenças observadas entre avaliações (3,9±0,5 versus 1,81±0,6) foram estatisticamente significativas (p<0,05). O estado funcional dos pacientes melhorou significativamente (p<0,05) entre avaliações (3,9±0,5 versus 2,5±0,5). Mudanças significativas na direção da melhoria da qualidade de vida foram ainda observadas nas seguintes sub-escalas de medida do SF-36 v2: Função física, dor corporal, saúde mental, desempenho emocional, função social e vitalidade. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | Conducted a prospective study in 50 patients with an average age of 60.7±11.7 years, mostly women, surgically intervention to solute the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). 8 percent of the participants were diabetic and 64% of the women were postmenopausal. As a risk factors for CTS, we have also found overweight in 48% of the users of the sample, class I obesity in 26% and class II obesity in 4%. The objective of this study consists on evaluating the severity of the symptoms and the functional state, through the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire and the quality of life, through the MOS SF-36 v2 (Portuguese version), 2 months after the surgery. In the preoperative period we have verified that the affected hand presented significantly lower values of manual prehension strength and the digital caliper when compared with the against side hand (p<0,05). Regarding the health results, we emphasize the following: in the severe dimensions of the symptoms, the differences observed between evaluations (3.9±0.5 versus 1.81±0.6) were statistically significant (p<0.05). The functional status of patients improved significantly (p<0.05) between evaluations (3.9±0.5 versus 2.5±0.5). Significant changes towards the improvement in the quality of life were also observed in the following sub scales of measurement SF-36 v2: Physical function, physical pain, mental health, emotional performance, social function and vitality. | por |
