Abstract(s)
A simple and accurate apparatus for the measurement of sugar solubilities in mixed solvents using an analytical method is presented. In this work, a systematic study of the solubilities of D-glucose in water/ethanol mixtures at 40°C and 60°C is presented. A modified UNIQUAC model is proposed for the correlation of the experimental ternary solubility data. New UNIQUAC parameters for D-glucose/ethanol are presented. The solubility calculations were performed using an equation based on enthalpy of fusion data. The model describes satisfactorily the experimental solubility data of D-glucose in water/ethanol mixtures at 40°C and 60°C.
