Haribi, Sarra Ajjali Ep; Dias, Maria Inês; Pinela, JoséHydroponics is a soilless agricultural technique which resorts to the use of a nutrient solution to provide all the essential nutrients required for the plant growth. Hydroponics is beneficial not only for the environment by reduced water usage and maintaining soil quality. This technique enables its user to grow year-round fruits and vegetables regardless of the environmental conditions, and the possibility of a variety of production better suited to his needs. The main advantage of this technique is the possibility to develop in urban areas which would have been restricted to land use mainly previously would now offer the possibility of urban areas inhabitants to grow their own fruits and vegetables from the comfort of their homes. This work’s primary objective is to raise awareness for sustainable agriculture and to introduce hydroponics to consumers. This fact will be emphasized by developing an indoor hydroponics system startup that will produce systems to grow food from the comfort of their homes with no agrochemicals. Hydroponics represents a truly innovative and exciting approach to modern agriculture, especially if it’s tailored to indoor use and becomes easily accessible to everyone who cares about the environment.
