Baptista, Gorete; Carvalho, GuilherminaWe developed a descriptive exploratory study, a sample of 150 patients on chronic hemodialysis, 62% men, and average age 52.7 years and most for more than a year in such treatment. There were statistically significant correlations (p <0.05) between acceptance of illness and variables: gender, educational background, professional group, professional status, economic status and distance from the treatment site. Overall, our results lead us to understanding the importance of interpersonal factors and hemodialysis how permit or not, dealing with the problems positively. In experiencing their illness and treatment, the individual is faced with existential problems and need to find solutions to alleviate the suffering, redefining goals and finding a new meaning to your life, which is, accepting his new status as a man‘s disease.

Carvalho, Guilhermina; Baptista, GoreteNursing can be add to reducing the pain of the patient postoperative with the adoption of unconventional techniques, known as non-pharmacological. The question is: If the implementations of non-pharmacologic techniques are an effective strategy in reducing pain in patients (adult) postoperative? Using the PICO helped to describe all the components that are related to the problem identified and searching the best evidence. From the literature review was chosen the most scientific evidence for the research question [Level I, Grade A; (Crowe et al. 2008)] EBSCO‘s database which consists of a systematic review and meta-analysis. The conclusions of this review demonstrated that there isn´t strong evidence to justify in the context of nursing the effectiveness of the adoption of non-pharmacological techniques in reducing postoperative pain.
- A Influência da depressão na aceitação da doença crónica-um estudo em doentes hemodialisadosPublication . Baptista, Gorete; Carvalho, GuilherminaNo tratamento de hemodiálise, o doente é confrontado com um mundo de técnicas, exames e máquinas dos quais poderá depender para o resto da sua vida. No processo de adaptação à nova condição de doença e tratamento podem surgir sintomas depressivos reativos a perdas significativas, podendo instalar-se a depressão sendo manifestação de falência adaptativa (Sensky, 1997;Lume, 1991). A adaptação implica um processo de “aceitação”, ou seja, o reconhecimento e entendimento das limitações e perdas impostas pela doença (Keogh, 1999).Este estudo perspetiva a busca de subsídios que permitam compreender alguns fatores emocionais que afetam o hemodialisado e de como conseguem, ou não, lidar com os problemas de forma positiva. Dessa forma pretendemos avaliar os níveis de depressão e de aceitação da doença nos doentes em tratamento de hemodiálise bem como avaliar a influência da depressão e o seu impacto na aceitação psicológica da doença e seu tratamento.
