Ochratoxin A (OTA) remains one of the most important mycotoxins known, due to its ubiquitous
occurrence, wide range of susceptible food commodities and observed toxic effects, in both animals and
humans. The reported toxic effects include carcinogenic, nephrotoxic, teratogenic, neurotoxic and
immunotoxic.
