Abstract(s)
Este trabalho teve como objectivo avaliar a dinâmica temporal do armazenamento
de carbono nos compartimentos solo, horizonte orgânico e biomassa da vegetação
arbustiva, na sequência da aplicação de um fogo controlado, numa área de matos do
Parque Natural de Montesinho, NE Portugal. Em 11 locais distribuídos aleatoriamente,
foi avaliada a biomassa das espécies arbustivas e do horizonte orgânico e colhidas
amostras de solo, antes do fogo controlado, dois meses, seis meses e três anos pós-fogo.
Trinta e seis meses após o fogo, o carbono armazenado na biomassa aérea das espécies
arbustivas (7,4 Mg C ha-1) e nos horizontes orgânicos (1,6 Mg C ha-1), representa cerca
de metade do carbono armazenado na situação original (antes do fogo controlado). Em
oposição, o solo registou um aumento de 10% da quantidade de carbono (6,4 Mg ha-1).
Carbon storage dynamics in mountain scrubland areas: effect of prescribed fire. This research focused in effects of a prescribed fire (PF), which was applied in Montesinho Natural Park (PNM), NE Portugal, in temporal dynamics of carbon storage in mineral soil, litter and shrub biomass. In 11 plots randomly distributed, shrub biomass and organic horizon were evaluated and soil samples were collected before the controlled fire, two months, six months and three years after prescribed fire. Thirty-six months after the PF carbon storage in aboveground biomass of shrub species (7.4 Mg C ha-1) and litter (1.6 Mg C ha-1) is about on half when compared with original situation (before PF). In contrast, the mineral soil recorded a 10% carbon increase (6.4 Mg C ha-1).
