Abstract(s)
O presente estudo apresenta o potencial
A mudança
Facing the scarcity of water resources and drought, there is a growing concern about the applications of water for human consumption. Thus, it is necessary policies for the efficient use of water, such as: reducing consumption, reducing losses and waste and resorting to alternative sources for non-potable applications, as is the case of rainwater harvesting. This study presents the potential of water efficiency in the Santa Maria School Center of Bragança. In this sense, two options are proposed for reducing potable water consumption and a technical and economic feasibility study is made. From the analysis of the flow rates and discharge volumes of the existing devices in use, the first option proposes to replace the taps by others that are water efficient and certified by a national entity. In the second option, combining the implementation of efficient taps with the use of rainwater to supply flushing cisterns, it is estimated annual water savings until 75.6% and return periods for the investment until 5 years. The change in irrigation behavior due to changes in water intensity or irrigation periods can be associated with each of the options. Any of the studied solutions can be technically and economically implemented, leading to a considerable reduction in the water invoice. Therefore, the adoption of these measures for the efficient use of water in the Santa Maria School Center may contribute to minimize the risks of water scarcity in the region, as well as bring economic benefits to the Municipality.
