O bullying e o cyberbullying são fenómenos comportamentais que têm vindo a afetar negativamente a vida
de milhares de jovens em todo o mundo. Portugal não é exceção, como vários estudos têm
demonstrado. O uso generalizado das novas tecnologias e das ferramentas digitais pelos jovens,
sempre ligados, tem contribuído para o aumento do número de vítimas de cyberbullying. Com este artigo
pretendemos chamar a atenção para este flagelo dos nossos dias, apontando algumas estratégias de
defesa para as vítimas, realçando que este problema exige uma ação articulada entre a escola, a família e
a sociedade.
Bullying and cyberbullying are behavioural phenomenona that negatively impact the lives of thousands of teenagers and young adults worldwide. Portugal is not an exception as some research has shown. The widespread use of new technology and digital tools that maintain users online constantly is the main contributor to the increase in the numbers of cyberbullying victims. With this article we hope to generate awareness around this current issue, highlighting some coping strategies for the victims and emphasising the need for an articulated response among schools, families and society.
