Naffouti, Ghazwa; Ribeiro, Luís Frölén; Kallel, FtouhThis dissertation presents an ecological assessment oftheuse ofsyngas produced from biomass gasi cationininterna lcombustion engines.These analyses depend rstly on the environmental impact of the useofsyn gasin agaseous-fuelengine,aswell as,theecological performance of the gasi cation system.Syngas quality is based on conditions parameters suchas the equivalence ratio ER, gasi cation temperature, steam to biomass ratio STBR, and surfacevelocity SV . Also,syn gase cological evaluation depend sits ecological criteria suchas pollutan tindicator p, ecological e ciency . The ecological peformance of the system corresponds to ecological coe cient of performance ECOP, e ective ecological powerdensity EFECPOD. Results found by applying these analysis are 0.25 forth equivalence ratio, SV varies between[0.82,2.5] m=s. Pollut antindicator is found between[0.015,0.018] kg=MJ which lead to ecologicale ciency varies between[96.2,96.7]%.Comparison is conducted between the emissionfactor sand the ecologicale ciency achieved by burning the syngasin the internal combustion engine and with those obtained from burnin gother fuel sina gaseous-fuel engine.Burning syngas has a better environmental impact than burning other fuels suchas diesel gasoline or natural gas. ECOP calculation consists of applying exergetic analysis on system obtain in gas a result[0.00931,0.00938]for system1,and[0.0093,0.0094]for system2.It high lights the high amount of irreversibilities in the system. EFECPOD isfound[87.55,104.17] kW=m3 forsystem1and[436.26,518.67]forsystem2 kW=m3.
