Gomes, Stephan Graciano da Cruz; Piloto, P.A.G.With the growing demand for faster and more cost-effective construction solutions, it is necessary to evaluate the performance of these structures in terms of safety, particularly regarding their resistance to fire propagation. Several studies have been conducted to provide a better understanding of the phenomena occurring in LSF walls exposed to fire. These investigations are based on experimental tests and computational analyses, assessing fire insulation performance, integrity, and fire resistance ratings. This research numerically investigates, in two dimensions, the behavior of LSF walls when exposed to fire and proposes a simplified method to determine the fire insulation of LSF walls. It comparatively evaluates the experimental results of three distinct numerical models against the experimental results and compares the accuracy of the three models by calculating the relative error. To gain a better understanding of the influence of structural configuration on fire resistance time, a parametric study is carried out by varying the type of gypsum, as well as the number and thickness of the boards used. The numerical validation of the three numerical models and the parametric analysis are performed using ANSYS software. The results provide a precise comparison between the experimental tests and numerical simulations, demonstrating the reliability of computational simulations as an alternative solution to experimental tests, which are more costly. Finally, a new proposal is presented, based on the Additive Components Method, to determine the insulation fire resistance time of LSF walls.
