- Holonic manufacturing control: a practical implementationPublication . Leitão, Paulo; Casais, Francisco; Restivo, FranciscoThe ADACOR holonic architecture for manufacturing control addresses the agile reaction to unexpected disturbances at the shop floor level, by introducing supervisor entities in decentralised systems characterised by the self-organisation capabilities associated to each ADACOR holon. The result is an adaptive control architecture that balances dynamically between a more centralised structure and a more decentralised one, allowing the combination of global production optimisation with agile reaction to unexpected disturbances. The validation of the proposed architecture is required to verify the correctness and the applicability of its concepts. This paper describes the implementation of ADACOR concepts using multi-agent systems, especially through the usage of the JADE agent development platform.
- Integration of automation resources in holonic manufacturing applicationsPublication . Leitão, Paulo; Boissier, Raymond; Casais, Francisco; Restivo, FranciscoHolonic and agent-based paradigms are very suitable in the development of distributed manufacturing control systems, taking advantage of their modularity, decentralization, and ability to support dynamic and complex system design features. However, the integration of manufacturing resources within the holonic manufacturing control applications remains a problem, because no efficient standard allows an easy, transparent and essentially independent integration. This paper proposes an integration process that allows the integration of automation resources independently from the holonic control application, using some concepts derived from the Manufacturing Message Specification (MMS) application protocol and implemented over a distributed object platform.
- A real-time monitoring instrument of induction machines for an integrated teaching test benchPublication . Leite, V.; Casais, Francisco; Teixeira, Henrique José Alves; Araújo, Rui Esteves; Freitas, Diamantino SilvaThe purpose of this paper is to present a real-time analogue monitoring instrument developed for an integrated test bench for teaching as well as for R&D activities, in power electronics and variable speed drives of induction machines. The instrument is based on electronic modules and has been developed for monitoring the stator, rotor and magnetizing fluxes space phasors, electromagnetic torque as well as active and reactive powers.
