Abstract(s)
As
O modelo Data Envelopment
Today we are witnessing a time never experienced in world history, the rate of aging increases exponentially as does the average life expectancy of Western societies. To cope with the growing trend of population aging and to address emerging needs, the Residential Elderly Structures (ERPI), structures that address the health and social needs of the elderly, were created. Those more dependent, lonely or in need of daily and prolonged holistic care, often choose to attend these new housing typologies until the end of their lives. In view of this new societal challenge and all this new panoply of exclusive housing offerings for the older age group, users or relatives of institutionalized people have become increasingly demanding, the ERPI must not only provide a good housing structure with adequate conditions. suitable for daily life, but must also ensure adequate general satisfaction of the people who dwell therein to ensure their permanence. The objective was to investigate the relationship between the satisfaction provided in the services provided and the operating efficiency of the same institutions, to determine whether the operating efficiency, measured based on operating variables such as the institution's total space, operating costs and personnel expenses, differs depending on the public or private nature of the institutions. As a form of data collection, a questionnaire survey was used, and 178 satisfaction assessment questionnaires were obtained, which were applied to 7 public and private institutions in Bragança district. The Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model was used to evaluate the operational efficiency of the ERPI. The results show, in general, that the elderly residents in these institutions show reasonable values of satisfaction, which is higher in the private institutions, however, regarding the operational efficiency results it was found that the public institutions had higher efficiency.
