Índice de desenvolvimento turístico aplicado à região Norte de Portugal

Abstract

Resumo: O principal objetivo do presente estudo assentou em aplicar o índice de desenvolvimento turístico, desenvolvido por Coelho (2010), à Região Norte de Portugal - NUT II - e analisar o seu comportamento desde 2009. Pelos resultados obtidos pode dizer-se que a região NUTT II Norte evoluiu da fase de exploração no ano 2009 para a fase de envolvimento no ano de 2010 e que é uma região que se encontra em crescimento como destino turístico dentro da fase de envolvimento. Espera-se que se verifique, uma continuidade deste crescimento e que a médio prazo a região NUT II Norte entre na fase seguinte do ciclo de vida de desenvolvimento turístico, que é a fase de desenvolvimento.

Abstract: The main aim of this study was based on applying the tourism development index, developed by Coelho (2010), to the North of Portugal - NUT II - and analysing its behaviour since 2009. Results showed that NUTT II North region has evolved from the exploration stage in 2009 to involvement stage in 2010 and is a region that is growing as a tourism destination in the involvement stage. It is expected that there will be continuity of this growth. And, that in the medium term the NUT II North region enters the next phase of the Tourism Area Life Cycle, which is the development phase.
